Thank you for stopping by my site, I really appreciate it!
An even bigger “Thank you” is in order for taking the time to get to know a little more about me.
I grew up in a typical middle-class family in Central New Jersey. I lived in a typical middle- class neighborhood with good schools and plenty to do. I had friends, went on regular vacations with my family, and attended summer camp. I consider myself very lucky and wanted for nothing.
As I got older, I started to understand how the world worked and realized the number one thing my parents fought about was, MONEY. It always just seemed to be the major bone of contention. To put it into perspective, my parents made a very nice living and were able to pay for everything. They always had new cars, new clothes, like I mentioned before, my sister and I wanted for nothing. And yet, they constantly fought about money. At a young age I didn’t realize they were missing something.
I guess that is what started my interest in finance and money management.
So I decided to study Finance at a small college in Pennsylvania, maybe you have heard of it- Penn State?
Through internships at multiple financial firms, I was exposed to financial planning and one day a light bulb went off. I knew I had found my calling when I learned that I could actually become a professional who helps people build a plan for their money.
Of course I assumed my parents had such a plan or met with someone who had a plan right?
Oh boy I was wrong, see, that was what they were missing…..a plan.
They thought being able to pay your bills, was having a financial plan.
They were completely winging it.
They made some of the biggest decisions of their life without any analysis!!???!!
I thought how can this be??? I must help.
Just starting out, I spoke to anyone with a pulse about their financial situation to try and help but really to learn. Most people were older than me, I mean way older.
I realized quickly that MOST PEOPLE DID NOT HAVE A PLAN, LET ALONE a CLUE about their finances!!
My parents were not unique.
Maybe you are that way?
Maybe you know people like that? Is that why you are here?
I was speaking to people close to retirement with less than $50,000 saved or were successful business owners who didn’t balance their checkbooks, or have life insurance or a living will! I realized the need for a financial professional was a greater need that I had even imagined.
I was hooked.
After earning my bachelor’s degree in Finance from Penn State University, I spent 8 years working for “the man” at Metlife, learning the difference between giving advice and selling financial products. (I subscribe to the former). I also earned my Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation to demonstrate my knowledge of all things financial planning. I wanted to be the ultimate financial resource to my parents and friends and clients.
After my time at MetLife, I wanted to grow my own firm and I chose to become an Independent Financial Planner. Free and unencumbered from having to offer any specific services or products or strategies. To always do what’s best for my clients.
You should know:
- I have made money in the stock market and lost money in the stock market.
- I have made money in real estate and lost money in real estate.
- I have had successes in business and have had failures in business.
- I learned the hard way about private securities transactions
- I have seen other advisors do terrible things to clients and I have seen other advisors really help.
The good news is all of these things have only made me better. More self aware. More experienced.
Thankfully, through it all I have been able to gain valuable tools to better assist clients with their real life situations.
If you have an advisor, have you asked them about their experiences? Have they put their money where their month is? Or, Have you just been offered only what their company is selling? Are they well rounded? Are they working for YOU?
So, that’s the professional stuff. But my life does not end there….
As much as I live, eat, and breathe financial planning, there is 1 thing that comes first. My family. Period.
Me, my wife, and our son, Luke. Of course we cannot forget our cockapoo, Mumford.
Sometimes I have to let off some steam, I choose to play hockey.
Let’s take a moment and talk about you!
Let me guess, the bills are piling, your daughter is in dancing school, you need a new hot water heater, it’s your 10 year anniversary and your wife wants to celebrate… in Tahiti… and all along you sit there with no “rainy day fund,” no money saved for today, tomorrow, or your future.
Wondering how you got here?
Does all of this sound too familiar?
Well, you are not alone and I understand your situation.

You see, most people can’t get started. They need help, a push in the right direction. And because Personal finance is actually more PERSONAL than finance, any strategies you employ should be customized to match your situation. Like being unable to see the forest through the trees, you will most likely need help seeing your current and future financial situation clearly.
What I Believe
I grew up with a lot of financial commotion. Now that I know something about personal finance, I understand that most people worry about money needlessly. I believe that no matter what, you don’t have to worry about money. You can learn to understand how money works. Contrary to what Wall Street wants you to believe, investing is not rocket science. I believe you can use your cash flow (budget) to gain control of your finances. And I believe you can have financial freedom no matter what, if you are willing to put in the work.
What Has This Have To Do With Being A Certified Financial Planner™?
A CFP® is professional certification.
To obtain the certification, candidates have to undertake a rigorous education program and battery of tests. The final exam last 10 hours. Between 42% and 63% of the applicants pass the exam. I decided to become a CFP® because I thought (and still think) it is the highest level of professional designation for a financial advisor. It also carries with it a fiduciary responsibility and obligation to put the needs and interests of my clients first. I feel that clients should be treated as I want to be treated and the Certified Financial Planner designation is consistent with that belief.
People I Like Helping
I enjoy helping people get control over their finances so they can have the life they really want.
- Retired people who want to enjoy their lives and family without financial anxiety.
- Semi-Retired people who need to get more income from their existing portfolio.
- Working people who are not currently saving enough and are worried about their financial future as a result.
- Divorced and widowed women who need wise council to help them make wise financial decisions.
- People who want to maintain their lifestyle and aren’t exactly sure how to do so
